Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. While there are many other great youth programs that compete with Scouting, we believe that none are better than Boy Scouts of America. Scouting involves more than the basic activities usually associated with the program, such as tying knots, cooking, camping, and first aid. While these are an integral part of Scouting, our program emphasizes personal growth and advancement in all phases of character-building and duty to God and Country.
Troop 35 was established in 1991. Our Chartering Organization is American Legion Post 28 located at 17934 Liming Road in Triangle, Virginia. Membership has been consistently between 40 and 60 Scouts, but has been as high as 100. Over 70 Scouts have come through the Troop's program to reach the rank of Eagle. We have been recognized year after year as a Quality Unit, in part thanks to the efforts of our adult leadership. Troop 35 has been fortunate to have maintained longevity, continuity, and stability of its adult leadership.
Troop 35 has adult leadership that firmly believes in the Scouting program and is dedicated to helping boys grow into responsible adults and citizens. Many were Scouts in their youth; several even reached the rank of Eagle. Their experience provides important skills and unique perspective on the traditions of Scouting. But we also have many other fine adult leaders who were never Scouts in youth, but bring a wide variety of skills and experiences to our program based on their occupations, hobbies and educational background. Collectively, our goal is to make your son's Scouting experience exciting, rewarding, and memorable. We are confident that our program will benefit your boy while providing you and your family the opportunity to also experience many new and interesting activities.
